Climate change

Social Development Foundation Trust (SDFT), has been actively conducting climate change awareness programs in different villages of Manipur. The initiative aims to educate local communities, particularly indigenous people, about the causes and impacts of climate change and the importance of protecting natural resources.

Through community meetings, village workshops, and awareness campaigns, the program highlights issues such as deforestation, irregular rainfall, rising temperatures, and the loss of biodiversity that affect livelihoods and food security in the region. Climate change and environmental degradation in Manipur are closely linked to forest loss and changing weather patterns that threaten ecosystems and community livelihoods.

The program encourages communities to adopt sustainable practices such as tree plantation, conservation of forests, protection of water sources, and sustainable agriculture. It also promotes the role of indigenous knowledge and community participation in environmental conservation.
